Overview

This book is a compilation of messages originally published in the Brazilian newspaper “O Diário de São Paulo.” They were later collected for publication as a set of four books.

Each message is the result of a partnership between two of the greatest names in spiritist literature, Francisco Cândido (Chico) Xavier and Prof. José Herculano Pires. The present work has a significant historic value in that it brings together these two great contributors of the spiritist literature for the first time.

About the Authors

José Herculano Pires was born in Avaré–SP, Brazil on September 25, 1914 and died in São Paulo–SP, Brazil on March 9, 1979. Prof. Pires was a Brazilian journalist, philosopher, educator, parapsychologist, writer, and translator. He became well known for being one of the most active advocates of Spiritism in Brazil. He translated the masterpieces of Allan Kardec into Portuguese, and wrote both philosophical treatises and literary works, the latter inspired in the Spiritist Doctrine. He graduated from the University of São Paulo and held a doctoral degree in Philosophy with his published thesis in Existentialism, "The Human Being and Serenity."

Francisco de Paula Cândido Xavier was born in Pedro Leopoldo–MG, Brazil on April 2, 1910 and died in Uberaba–MG, Brazil on June 30, 2002. Affectionately known as &uot;Chico" Xavier, he was a Brazilian medium and philanthropist, and one of the most important advocates of Spiritism. Through his mediumship, he channeled 468 books and he is the most successful Brazilian writer of all times with over fifty million copies sold. All proceedings from his works were officially donated to institutions of assistance during his lifetime. He also psychographed approximately ten thousand letters without having ever charged anything from the recipients. Francisco Xavier continues to receive many honors and accolades in Brazil and in other countries, even after his passing; he was nominated for the Nobel prize for peace in 1981 and 1982.
