Nosso Lar, Portuguese for "Our Home," is the name of the spiritual colony that the spirit André Luiz introduces to us in the first book of his acclaimed series, "Life in the Spiritual World." The book, whose full title is "Nosso Lar: an Account of Life in a Spiritual Colony in the World of Spirits," is a compelling narrative wherein the author tells us of his impressions and discoveries about life in the spiritual world as he acts as a sort of journalist, who records his own experiences as they occur. André Luiz unveils an exciting world, filled with life and activity, and which is organized in an exemplary way. It is a place where discarnate spirits go through a recovery stage and a spiritual educational process supervised by high-order spirits. Nosso Lar enables us to get a glimpse of the spirit world that awaits us after we leave our physical bodies.
About the Authors:
Francisco de Paula Cândido Xavier, or affectionately "Chico" Xavier, was born on April 2, 1910 in Pedro Leopoldo, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He became recognized as the expressive worker of Spiritism through his mediumship as well as in the field of assistance, social, and spiritual promotion of human beings. Through psychography he published 409 books that have sold an estimated 25 million copies, the profits of which have all been channeled to charitable organizations. He discarnated on June 30, 2002.
André Luiz was a physician and researcher who lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the beginning of the XX century. After his discarnation, he spent over eight years in the lower zones, being finally rescued by Clarêncio, an assistant from "Nosso Lar", one of the spiritual colonies neighboring Earth. After a period of learning and intense work at Nosso Lar, André Luiz gradually overcame pride and selfishness, and eventually acquired citinzenship at Nosso Lar. His solid scientific knowledge and great powers of observation have allowed him to recount his experiences as a discarnate being, first in the lower zones and subsequently at Nosso Lar. His experiences and struggles to better himself come down to us through the psychography of Francisco Xavier and are beautifully narrated in the books that comprise the André Luiz Collection or "Life in the Spiritual World." Faithful to the solid foundation of the codification by Allan Kardec, his novels are an amazing non-fictional, first-hand account of the author’s educational and transforming experiences in the spiritual realm. They all bring to life the teachings of the Spiritist philosophy, the revealing observations of Spiritist science, and the unequivocal operation and justice of the natural laws. Whether spiritist or not, we should all strive to learn from the pages of his life so we may be better prepared to face our own.
